A retrospective has recently been held on the work of artist and professor Jorge Riveros, recognized for his work in the field of geometric abstraction in Colombia. However, throughout the 20th century Riveros explored different facets of art, which led him to venture into the field of political caricature, and through the sketches made in the artist's notebooks Zeichenheft and Mal-und Zeichenblock it is possible to infer that the artist made a series of drawings that stem from his most used themes. Considering the above, it is possible to make a historical, conceptual and aesthetic review of the caricature in Colombia in the twentieth century through three caricaturists, which helps to understand the aesthetic complexity and the reason why these drawings can be taken as political caricatures. Through caricaturists such as pepe mejia, chapete and hernan merino it is possible to affirm that in Colombian caricature concepts such as: social and political criticism, exaggeration of certain features and an emphasis on crude and visceral humor stand out. Additionally, Chapete and Merino suffered from censorship in their time, causing many of their caricatures to become clandestine. These same characteristics can be seen in the drawings of Jorge Riveros, besides being an anomaly among the work of the master Riveros, these drawings are clandestine because they are not shown publicly. On the one hand, this research has been able to justify the reason why Riveros' drawings are clandestine and anomalous caricatures in his career as an artist. On the other hand, it is possible to say, based on the scarce information that could be collected, that art historians should delve deeper into the field of caricature and not restrict it to a genre outside the field of art.
