Abstracción geométrica y simbología religiosa en la obra de Manolo Vellojín

Abstract

El objetivo de la tesis es analizar la vida de Manolo Vellojín y su obra en diferentes momentos de su trayectoria artística. Pretendo estudiar formalmente el particular lenguaje abstracto de Vellojín y la geometría de sus cuadros, así como la manera en que la simbología religiosa marcó radicalmente su obra, y el uso y reinterpretación que él hizo de esta. Analizaré la manera en que sus pinturas plantean una nueva vía de entendimiento a ritos, símbolo y episodios religiosos, y cómo la abstracción fue un camino que el artista utilizó para liberar al ser humano de los problemas del mundo y acercarlo, desde el silencio y la contemplación de sus obras, a la espiritualidad.

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the life of Manolo Vellojín and his work at different moments of his artistic career. I intend to formally study Vellojín-s particular abstract language and the geometry of his paintings, as well as the way religious symbolism radically marked his work, and the use and reinterpretation he made of it. I will analyze the way his paintings propose a new way of understanding rites, symbols and religious episodes, and how abstraction was a path that the artist used to free human beings from the problems of the world and bring them closer, from silence and contemplation of his works, to spirituality.
