Using computational tools (ArcMap 10.5.1 and the Topotoolbox MATLAB complement) and the digital elevation model AW3D30, river profiles were studied from 20 basins, located in the eastern flank of the Northern Andes, in order to find possible tectonic influences. The concavity index was calculated for the principal rivers of each basin (theta), and this value, with the distribution and steepness normalized indexes (K_{sn}) values, allowed to group the area in 4 principal zones (the Villavicencio, Guejar, Garzon and Algeciras), with geographic, lithologic, precipitation and tectonical specific distribution. The area division allowed to distinguish to which factor could be attributed the knickpoint formation, and from the 19 studied knickpoints with more detail, it was found that 1) none of them seem to be closely related to the precipitation; 2) 7 of them are localized in areas with lithological contrasts and 3) the 12 remaining, indicate neotectonic relations, according to the used criteria. The location of these 12 knickpoints, was used to propose that the distance of the Servita Fault to its front, seems to be of 20 kms approximately, and that possibly the high shortening rates studied by Steller et al. (2018), can be related to uplift that takes place between the Guayaquil-Algeciras and the Chingual faults, which is marked by the knickpoints migration throughout that zone.
