"Bogotá is a city characterized by sharing its space with an imposing nature that determines itþs limits, form, geography and atmosphere. The city overlaps violently over the upland delimited between the mountain range at the east, and Bogotá river at the west, leaving, because of this collision, lost traces of nature, wetlands and rivers. Natural systems that were disconnected due to the ceaseless overlapping of buildings plots and transport infrastructure. The detachment between man and its natural surroundings. This rupture was additionally affected by the endless crash of objects that progressively saturated the space and time of the city. Building over building, system over system... The unrestrained overlapping originated a chaos of elements that now exist in constant change and movement, determining the way that citizens experiment their urban context. Furthermore, the arrival of infrastructure systems to Bogotá implied the imposition of a rhythm and a pace of traveling through the city that detached even more the people from its place and time. ¿How can the way in which men perceive their environment be affected from a change in the rhythm of their experience in the city? The city needs a pause, a break capable of disturbing the speed imposed by the city's lifestyle, and of bringing to life a reinterpretation of the relationship between people and their urban and natural surroundings. A Project that collides with the urban plot in strategical points where geography was forgotten, and where it can build a new landscape. A Project that can give a new meaning through the creation of a new geography capable of rescuing the primal relationships between men, their environment and the experience they have from it. The Urban Pause as a programmatic topography creates a new landscape, one that can bring back to people the domain of their space and time, one that can reconnect them to their roots, the geography, their environment, themselves."--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado
