Análisis del sistema férreo en Colombia: un potencial desaprovechado

Abstract

En las últimas décadas Colombia ha enfocado su inversión pública al transporte carretero dejando a un lado los otros modos de transporte (férreo, marítimo) resultando en un deterioro de su infraestructura. Sin embargo, a pesar de los altos niveles de inversión al modo carretero Colombia no ha podido avanzar en términos de infraestructura, transporte y logística de acuerdo con estándares internacionales. En este orden de ideas el trabajo analiza la condición actual de la infraestructura férrea, los beneficios de transportar bienes por este modo y constituir corredores logísticos a partir de la georreferenciación de mapas y las condiciones económicas, locales y nacionales del país.

For years Colombia has focused its public investment in the road transportation setting aside the other modes resulting in deterioration of its infrastructure. Nevertheless, despite the high percentages of investment in this mode Colombia has not advanced in terms of infrastructure, transportation and logistics according to international standards. In these order of ideas, this work analyzes the actual condition of the railroad infrastructure, the benefits of goods transportation and constitute potential logistic corridors based on georeferenced maps and local and global economic conditions of the country
