Abstract

Entretejida en arte: la relación entre arte y artesanía en la obra de Olga de Amaral de los años setenta es un trabajo que explora dos obras especificas de la artista De Amaral realizadas a inicios de los setenta: Luz Blanca (1969) y Muro Tejido No. 98 (1972) y a través de ellas se aproxima a la materialidad utilizada por las artistas, poniéndola en relación directa con la artesanía e indagando en las implicaciones políticas desprendidas de esta relación. Por medio de este contraste se espera dar cuenta de los motivos por los cuales Olga de Amaral no fue considerada un artista radical durante la década de los setenta.

Interwoven in art: the relationship between art and crafts in Olga de Amaral's work of the seventies is a work that explores two specific works by the artist De Amaral made in the early seventies: Luz Blanca (1969) and Muro Tejido No. 98 (1972) and through them it approaches the materiality used by the artists, putting it in direct relation with the crafts and investigating the political implications of this relationship. Through this contrast it is expected to give an account of the reasons why Olga de Amaral was not considered a radical artist during the seventies.
