Transformation Dynamics for Higher Education Latin America and the Caribbean
The changing circumstances in which Education develops require a signal reorientation for Higher Education institutions in Latin American and Caribbean countries. This is a matter of concern to governments, International Organizations and is a topic demanding attention from experts. The need stems from the fact that education serves in each country to make the exercise of intellectual freedom possible through research, to render an outstanding service to society by professional training or the creation of a critical intelligence. Education also serves as a factor of equity by giving access to a quality service and extending-by knowledge and reflection-environments favoring the strengthening of ¿modern citizenship¿ and democracy. Its very importance makes it incumbent on all of us to point out new challenges for Education in the next decade.
