La distribución de acceso a recursos energéticos tiende a ser desigual dependiendo si alguien se encuentra en el campo o en la ciudad. En Colombia existen carencias en relación con el acceso a gas natural por lo que muchas familias recurren a otras alternativas que tienen muchos impactos negativos a la salud y al medio ambiente. Esto ha llevado a desarrollar alternativas en relación al consumo energético tal como la implementación de cocinas solares. En los últimos años han existido varios avances en cuanto a geometrías, materiales y la implementación de sistemas de almacenamiento térmico, sin embargo, estos sistemas pueden llegar a ser muy costosos. Se realiza un estudio respecto a cocinas solares de bajo costo y la posibilidad de implementarlas en zonas rurales de Colombia, además, se busca estudiar el rendimiento térmico de los recipientes utilizados para la cocción de alimentos implementando sistemas de almacenamiento de energía.

The distribution of access to different energy means tends to be uneven depending on whether one is located in an urban or rural area. In rural areas of Colombia, there are various problems regarding access and distribution to energy resources for cooking food, such as natural gas. Due to the above, many families must resort to other alternatives that have many contraindications for health and for the environment. This has led to the development of alternatives regarding energy consumption for domestic and industrial applications, among these are solar cookers. In recent decades solar cooker technology has presented great advances in term of materials, geometries, configurations, or implementations of thermal storage systems, which have allowed them to be more efficient. However, solar cookers available on the market tend to be expensive. A study is carried out regarding low-cost solar cookers and the possibility of implementing them in rural areas of Colombia, in addition, one of the main objectives is to study the thermal performance of the pots used for cooking food by implementing energy storage systems.
